I've been a childcare provider for 20 years. I got into training through a friend who introduced me to the certification process. I completed an RPL and my career progression started from there. I attend between one and two in-person training programs a year because it's so rewarding to share experiences with colleagues. I've particularly gained many skills related to working with disabilities. The profession has evolved, and I've grown with it. At first, my role was just employer-employee, but now, moms ask me to share what I've learnt. Today, I maintain a professional demeanor that reassures parents. When I arrived in France, my French wasn’t good enough to continue my career as an optometrist. I found a job as a childcare worker, then completed training to become a family assistant.
